Indramat MDD motor models
MDD model letters identify separate motor-length and torque packages inside each frame. Start with the three-digit series and length letter, then use the complete type code to confirm speed, feedback, shaft, brake and centering options.
Match the complete nameplate, including every suffix. Ask Litco for current photos of the unit being quoted.

Choose the motor length printed after the frame
The A, B, C or D suffix is part of the model identity, not a minor option. Later letters generally indicate a longer motor and a larger torque package within the same frame, but the complete nameplate remains necessary because winding, cooling, feedback, centering, shaft and brake choices can still differ.

Fields that separate one MDD motor from another
The model page identifies the frame and length. A complete tag photo supplies the remaining housing, winding-speed, feedback and mechanical fields needed for a dependable match.
Complete type code
Capture the full MDD designation, including housing, speed, balance, feedback, centering, shaft, connector and brake fields.
Frame and motor length
The three-digit frame and A, B, C or D length identify a model-level torque package, not a complete interchangeable motor.
Housing and nominal speed
Natural- or surface-cooled housing and the winding-speed code affect ratings, cooling hardware and the installed machine envelope.
Digital feedback
Digital servo feedback and multiturn absolute-encoder choices must remain compatible with the connected digital drive.
Centering and shaft
Centering diameter, plain or keyed shaft, shaft seal and optional side-B details must match the mechanical interface.
Connector and brake
Record power-connector direction and blocking-brake choice; similar MDD housings can carry different mechanical and electrical options.
MDD motor questions
Before Litco checks a unit
These answers cover the identification details that most often slow down a legacy motor match.
Is the MDD model number enough to match a motor?+
No. A model such as MDD112C fixes the frame and motor-length package, but housing, nominal speed, feedback, centering, shaft, connector and blocking-brake fields remain in the full type code.
What should I send for an MDD shelf check?+
Send a straight-on nameplate photo, the complete motor, shaft and flange, plus power and feedback connections. Include the connected drive, machine axis and failure symptoms when repair is being considered.
How do I check whether an MDD is ready to ship?+
Call with the complete part number. Litco confirms the current physical unit, full suffix, condition, price and lead time before quoting.
Can Litco evaluate a failed MDD motor?+
Yes. Litco can compare repair, replacement and exchange paths after reviewing the full code, connected drive, machine context and motor condition.
Model groups and option fields checked against the original planning manual.
Manual values describe available series configurations, not proof that every option can be combined or is currently on Litco’s shelf.
