Evaluate the supply as part of the power system

Legacy modular drive systems can use one supply to feed several axes through a shared DC link. Supply rating, mains voltage, transformer arrangement, regenerative or bleeder hardware, line chokes and the combined drive load all affect whether a replacement belongs in that cabinet.

Before removing the module, photograph the cabinet layout, supply label, upstream line equipment, DC-bus connections and every alarm or indicator. Do not assume that a damaged-looking supply is the only failed component; the evaluation starts with the whole event and the connected system.

Follow the machine builder’s lockout and discharge procedures; hazardous stored energy can remain after power is removed.

Photograph the complete cabinet

Show the supply, connected drives, line components, transformer and all DC-bus or braking hardware.

Capture every type plate

Record the supply, transformer, choke and connected drive codes rather than sending only the failed module number.

Preserve the fault sequence

Note what the machine was doing, which protections opened and which indicators or messages appeared first.
